about
The smallest Creature’s new single ‘What Color Is the Rain’ sees the rock quartet leading a rousing call against the world’s inherent chaos in a defiant ode to the undiscovered paradise in the moments of life yet lived, songs yet sung and days yet dawn. Set above a marching beat, the uplifting rock anthem champions the world’s beauty and harmony before blasting into a self-sacrificial whirlwind outro.
'What Color Is the Rain' is part of a constellation of singles set for release during the summer, which see the Cyprus-based band veer into a provocatively explorative pop sense in a flippant response to our stuporous entanglement with wars, aggression, and disillusionment. The songs’ first traces were borne out of the initial vacuum of the pandemic, when sounds of nature and the universe were unrestrained. The change of gears offered a new source of reference for the band, and when chaos and paranoia began rising, the band again turned to music for its healing power to console and mute the fuckery of humanity’s calamities.
‘What Color Is the Rain’ is accompanied by a tranquil lyric video taking viewers through reflectively minimal visuals stenciling the song’s lyrics. “If you turn off the news and take a moment to just listen, sounds of birds singing will reach your ears. Anytime we’re entwined in hostility with ourselves and are wreaking havoc, it always seems to be that music is the answer. And it’s that simple; pause and just let harmony reach you. Let go and listen,” explain the band.
lyrics
The songbirds find their way through
these battlefields of chaos
The sooner I lay down now
the sooner I may awake
And you got your refrain
What color is the rain
How strange when you're away
What color is the rain
If I could just remember
the music in your soul
the way it flowed through summer
the way it sang my own
And you got your refrain
What color is the rain
How strange when you're away
What color is the rain
I'll scream my lungs out, till I'm gone, till I'm gone
I'll scream my lungs out, till I'm gone, till I'm gone
I'll scream my lungs out, till I'm gone, till I'm gone
I'll scream my lungs out, till I'm gone, till I'm gone
